About the Artist
My passion for ecology and conservation fuel my artistic motivation. I am interested in both the positive and negative relationships between humans and fauna, and their existing environments.
I experiment with the different ways in which I can convey the importance of wildlife preservation. Recently, I highlight and question the different definitions of value as described by our society. By creating a juxtaposing composition consisting of a subject possessing high material value with a subject containing far more ecological significance, but is often overlooked due to its lack of dollar value, I encourage viewers to question their own definition of value.
I want my viewers to have an empathetic experience when encountering my artwork, and I find that that is most successful when I depict delicate and detailed renderings of living creatures. However, I also want to promote emotion through mark-making and color theory, rather than just literal representations. Since intentional abstraction does not come easily to me, I have begun morphing my realism with hints of abstraction and subtle allusions to dimorphic composition on a large-scale picture plane. This idea was inspired by artist Adonna Khare and is something that I am learning to control and enjoy in my own work.
